This is a close-up of one of the buds from yesterday’s photo. Chris was kind enough to post and let me know that it’s a Rhododendron plant. Again, this shot was taken with the new lens. I really liked the crispness of the snow on the bud. I also think the lens did a good job of blurring the background.
When I took the first few photos outside with the lens I was disappointed that the images seemed blurry. After taking a handful of photos, I finally realized that I had turned the image stabilizer off while I was taking photos inside using the tripod. So, once the IS was on I found that the sharpness was much better. Probably could be even sharper but it was only in the low 20s outside so my hands were a bit shaky without gloves on.

20 degrees would definitely make my whole body shake, much less hands!
Nice shot…I, too, love the detail in the crystals of snow.
