Graffiti Knitting

This week, I have some shots taken around Boston. Mostly, taken on my way to work or my walk during lunch to get out of the office. Last year, I saw one of these yarn decorations and thought it was kind of cool. This year they had a whole bunch of them so it made me more curious as to who was doing these designs. A Google search brought up The South End Knitters.

I love the idea that they are considered graffiti knitters! As one of the women says, “it’s street art with attitude.” It’s interesting that police consider it illegal, as it is technically defacing property but since no one is complaining about it they leave it be. I for one think it makes these cement blocks more interesting and fun. It put a smilie on my face as I was walking to work.

Shirley, you mentioned you haven’t knitted in awhile. Maybe you’ll start up again with some graffiti 🙂
