It’s been over 5 years that I have gone down to Florida with my parents. In all those years I never visited Jonathan Dickinson Park (my parents had been there). The park is about 20 minutes or so away from where we stay. Their website states that the park “teems with wildlife in 13 natural communities, including sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, mangroves, and river swamps. The Loxahatchee River, Florida’s first federally designated Wild and Scenic River, runs through the park. Ranger-guided tours of the 1930s pioneer homestead of Trapper Nelson are available year-round.“
We took the boat tour of the Loxahatchee River on the 25 passenger Loxahatchee Queen boat. There were only about 15 of us on this tour. You can also take your own boat, canoe or even kayak down the river.
