The pictures I was taken of the boats on the water seemed bland to me. I’m not sure if it was the blue sky and the blue water blending together and not having enough contrast, even with a white sailboat going through the shot. Or if it was because everything was at about the same distance so it looked very flat. I saw these branches and thought the shapes and angles of them were interesting and decided to make them the focus with the sky and water as the background.
