Night and Day: Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi

There are three fountains located in the Piazza Navona, Fontana del Moro (yesterday’s photo), Fontana di Nettuno and Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, which are fed by the Aqua Virgo aqueduct.  The Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (The Fountain of Four Rivers) is the largest of the three and is located in the center of the Piazza. It was constructed between 1647-1651 by Bernini. The fountain features four figures, each representing a river from a different continent – the Nile, Ganges, Danube and Rio della Plata.

I really enjoyed seeing the Roman scenery during the day and then going back and seeing how everything looked at night. The fountains looked especially cool at night with the lighting.
