Once we explored the upper part of Positano we had to start making our way down. As you can see it’s a bit of a ways down. I’m not sure if this is the only parking garage in town but I can’t imagine there are many other places to park when everything is basically built into a mountain. I was surprised they allowed parking along parts of the Amalfi Drive. I would be afraid a bus would side swipe my car. There was barely room for one car let along two on the road (even though it was considered two way traffic).
I’m glad we got off the bus at the top of Positano. Walking down we were able to see how the people of Positano really live. We literally walked right through their back/front yards. Plus we were able to stop and take in the view. The bottom image shows you some of the pathways we had to climb down. Very narrow and also a bit slippery from the rain.

I can almost feel my legs getting shaky again when I look at the pictures of the hundreds of steps we went down. I’m glad we got off at the top too. It felt special doing what the locals do–we noticed they really pace themselves, especially going up the stairs.
