Earthquake?

No, we didn’t have an earthquake in Massachusetts however there was a water main break in the financial district that sure looked as if an earthquake had hit. That’s a pretty large sink hole in the middle of the photo. Usually, with the cold weather I take a commuter rail over to Back Bay but last Friday the weather wasn’t too bad so I decided to walk up to the T at Downtown Crossing. I couldn’t figure out what was going on with all the police barricades and gravel in the street. However, when I got to this spot you could see the hole and in the upper right corner you can see some of the water. What a mess this made! I couldn’t resist taking a photo. I’m glad I wasn’t walking by when it blew up. I’m sure that would have been pretty scary.

The top photo was taken at 7:15am about an hour after the pipe blew (I believe there was a fire underground that was being dealt with at this time). The bottom photo was taken on my way home from work around 4:30pm. It sure wrecked havoc on the commute that day. Thankfully, I believe no one was hurt.

    Wow.

  2. Looks like The “Little” Dig. Those beautiful old buildings in the background remind me of Rome.
